CHICKEN BOG
A good Ole Chicken Bog will change your life! Here is how we do it!
What you'll need:
6 Cups of Water
1 Tablespoon of Salt
1 Onion, finley chopped
1 Whole Chicken (3lbs)
3 1/2 Cups of Chicken Broth
1 Cup of Long Grain, White Rice
1/2 lb of smoked sausage (go with wild game sausage if you can!)
2 Tablespoons of Italian Seasoning
2 Cubes of Chicken Bouillon
Now get cooking:
Put your water, diced onion, salt, and chicken into a large pot and bring it to a boil. Cook the chicken until it is tender, roughly one hour. Once the chicken is cooked, remove it from the water and let it cool down. While the chicken is cooling, skim off the fat from the water. Remove the chicken skin and chop the meat into bite sized pieces.
Now that your water has turned into a chicken broth, measure 3 1/2 cups and pour it into a seperate cooking pot. Add your rice, chicken pieces, sliced up sausage, Italian seasoning, and bouillon cubes to the broth. Cook this for approximately 30 minutes. Let it come to a boil then reduce the heat to a simmer. Stir the bog regularly and keep a lid on the pot.
Once the bog has cooked down to the consistancy you like, slap some on your plate and enjoy!
Enjoy!
